Course Overview
Build the awareness and practical understanding needed to provide respectful, inclusive and person-centred support to LGBTIQA+ participants and contribute positively to their relationships, wellbeing and everyday experiences.
Why take this course?
Everyone should feel safe, respected and able to be themselves when receiving support. However, LGBTIQA+ people can experience stigma, prejudice and discrimination that may affect their health, wellbeing and sense of belonging — including within disability services.
For support workers, creating an inclusive environment starts with understanding how our language, assumptions, attitudes and everyday interactions can affect the people we support.
This 30-minute eLearning explores how frontline workers can provide affirming and person-centred support to LGBTIQA+ participants.
You’ll develop greater awareness of the experiences and barriers LGBTIQA+ people may face and explore practical ways to create support relationships where participants feel respected, comfortable and able to be themselves.
