Course overview
This intermediate course teaches disability support workers how to recognise incidents and near misses, respond to immediate risks and create accurate, defensible records.
Workers learn the difference between incident reports, progress notes and ABC records. The course develops practical skills in chronological writing, exact quotations, observable facts, recording actions and notifications, preserving relevant information and correcting documentation without compromising the audit trail.
It also covers medication errors, falls, environmental hazards, reportable-incident escalation, privacy, delayed reporting and using incident patterns to prevent recurrence.
