Course Overview
Support workers may spend significant time in a participant’s home and become familiar with their routines, relationships and personal information. Building genuine trust is important, but the relationship must remain focused on the participant’s needs, choices and goals.
This course examines professional boundaries in supported independent living, including personal disclosure, gifts, money, private contact, social media, confidentiality, favouritism and dependency. Workers will learn how to recognise early warning signs, explain limits respectfully, manage boundary concerns and seek guidance before a situation causes harm.
