Course Overview
Emergencies can develop quickly, but an effective response begins well before anything goes wrong. In supported living, emergency arrangements must account for each resident’s mobility, communication, sensory, health, medication, equipment and behavioural support needs.
This course provides support workers with practical guidance for preparing for emergencies, coordinating responsibilities in a shared home and responding appropriately to different hazards. It covers evacuation and shelter-in-place procedures, accessible emergency communication, medication and equipment continuity, emergency kits, practice drills, post-event recovery, reporting and plan improvement.
