Course Overview
Restrictive practices can significantly affect a person’s rights, independence and freedom of movement. Support workers must be able to recognise when an everyday action, workplace routine or safety response may become restrictive.
This intermediate module examines the five regulated restrictive practices, worker responsibilities, Behaviour Support Plans, authorisation requirements and the importance of using the least restrictive response available.
Through practical scenarios, workers will learn how to identify disguised forms of control, respond early to escalating situations, follow medication and PRN protocols, document incidents objectively and report possible unauthorised restrictive practices.
Completing this course builds knowledge but does not authorise a worker to implement a restrictive practice.
