Course Overview
Paranoia can cause a person to feel unsafe, suspicious or fearful, even when others do not share their concerns. These experiences can affect relationships, communication, daily activities and a person’s willingness to accept support.
This module helps disability support workers understand paranoia and respond in a calm, respectful and person-centred way. It explains how to recognise possible signs of distress, communicate without arguing or reinforcing unverified beliefs, build trust, reduce environmental stress and respond appropriately when safety concerns arise.
Through practical examples, interactive scenarios and knowledge checks, workers will learn how to support the person’s dignity, choice and wellbeing while following their support plan.
